The Velvet Sunset has a bunch of beach huts located at the northern end of Agonda Beach.
There are beach huts for families, and there are beach huts perfect for honeymooners, couples, and solo travelers and backpackers too.

Family-friendly beach huts
Tree hut high-rise beach hut
Okay, so this isn’t exactly a tree hut. But the high rise nature of it kind of makes it seem like it is when it’s built right next to a tree! Since this trip to Agonda was in October, this beach hut was still under construction.

And now the budget-friendly beach huts with more detailed pictures!
It may not be a sea-facing beach hut, but it’s not a bad view!
And all you have to do is step outside and look over, and there’s the ocean! It’s probably a 30-second walk to the beach.
Beach huts are generally simple accommodation.
This was the double bed in the budget-friendly beach hut. It comes with a mosquito net. The room had electricity with lights, a fan, and a set of outlets on 2 sides of the room.
There was a small table that you can use to organize your stuff, and there was also a bar with hangers for your clothes.
Next to the sleeping area is the bathroom, which again was very simple. No door, but a curtain leading to the bathroom. It has a toilet (with toilet paper), sink, mirror, shower (cold water only), faucet below the shower head, and buckets. There’s a hole in the floor where the water drains out of the beach hut.

When it rains, you can hear the rain pounding very clearly above you, but no worries about leaks!
Sea-facing restaurant
Velvet Sunset has a restaurant on-site, which means you don’t have to go far in search of food! But more importantly, you can enjoy food with the ocean views! Or if you prefer, you can order your food to be delivered straight to your beach hut.
As for prices of the food, for a general idea, palak paneer with rice was around 200 rupees. A fruit lassi was around 100 rupees. There are fresh seafood options too.
You can always find friendly and helpful staff at the restaurant (make-shift front desk at the bar) who can answer any questions you have about Agonda. This includes tips on getting a taxi or scooter, or arranging for dolphin tours, among other things.
Agonda Beach at Velvet Sunset
This is the stretch of beach that’s located right in front of the Velvet Sunset property. There are beach chairs and umbrellas available to use.
At low tide, you might be able to spot some small starfish on the beach that have washed up onto shore!
Agonda Beach can also be a good place to give bodyboarding in Goa a try, as well as a good place to give surfing in Goa a try! Or, just get in the water and ride along with the waves!

- Waterproof phone case (so you can capture pictures of fishies underwater!)
- cheapo phone case OR waterproof camera
- I also have this "camera" wrist float to attach to my cheapo waterproof phone case so my phone won't sink to the bottom of the ocean in case I somehow let go of it. (Mine does stay afloat - test this for yourself before completely trusting it!)
- Swimming goggles or snorkeling mask set
- Reef-safe(r) sunscreen

I also don't go snorkeling without a personal swim float buoy. Not only does it help to keep me visible, but it makes for a perfect way to rest out in deeper water! Oh, and it also serves as a dry bag so I can take stuff into the water with me.
Another way I have taken valuables into the water with me is to wear a travel money belt that I don't mind getting wet with salt water (it's not waterproof but I have several so I just use one of them) and then I put things in a ziplock freezer bag, and put that freezer bag in the money belt.
There are also designated waterproof waist pouches that you can store your valuables and take into the water with you.
