Hale Koa Luau, Hale Koa Hotel, Waikiki

The splendor and spectacle of an ancient Hawaiian tradition comes alive at the Hale Koa Luau! As you enter our tropical garden, you are greeted with a lei and taken back to an old Hawaiian setting of thatched hale (houses) that protect guests from the misty rain, while maintaining the outdoor ambiance.

A Hawaiian musical duo and lei making demonstrations will keep you entertained during cocktail hour. Experience an authentic imu (Hawaiian underground oven) ceremony followed by a bountiful feast of authentic local flavors. Our sumptuous menu includes native delicacies such as lomi lomi salmon, kalua pig, teriyaki beef, shoyu chicken, Mahimahi, pineapple and poi.

At twilight, our spectacular luau show hosted by international recording artist Glenn Medeiros, will take you on a musical journey through the islands of Polynesia, including the graceful hula and a live fire knife dance! All the ingredients are here for a spectacular island event.

Royal Hawaiian Luau, Royal Hawaiian Resort, Waikiki

At every luau, the Royal Hawaiian Resort pays homage to Helumoa, the legendary playground of Hawaiian royalty where the resort now stands, with a modern interpretation of the traditional Hawaiian feast called ‘Aha‘aina, a Royal Celebration.

Waikiki’s only oceanfront sit-down vignette dinner show is a culinary and sensory celebration, commemorating Hawaiian culture and transforming the traditional island experience in grand Royal Hawaiian style. Before “luaus” there were “Aha‘aina” — a feast of food, mele (song) and hula. In ancient times the Hawaiian people came together to celebrate momentous occasions, these gatherings were called Aha‘aina (which translates to gathering for a meal).

The Royal Hawaiian is located on sacred grounds and we have created a modern, yet timeless Aha ‘Aina to honor the land’s majestic history through food, song, stories, hula, and culture — a true celebration of The Royal and its heritage.

🐠 Here are things you must consider packing!

I also don't go snorkeling without a personal swim float buoy. Not only does it help to keep me visible, but it makes for a perfect way to rest out in deeper water! Oh, and it also serves as a dry bag so I can take stuff into the water with me.

Another way I have taken valuables into the water with me is to wear a travel money belt that I don't mind getting wet with salt water (it's not waterproof but I have several so I just use one of them) and then I put things in a ziplock freezer bag, and put that freezer bag in the money belt.

There are also designated waterproof waist pouches that you can store your valuables and take into the water with you.
