Waikiki is home to one of 3 marine life conservation districts on Oahu.

What does that mean?

Aside from being a protected area for fish and turtles, it means that there ARE fish and turtles to be seen here!

What you actually see may depend on your luck, but it makes it a good spot to test that luck!

The marine life conservation district is on the far end of Waikiki Beach, on the opposite side of the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

That would be this area of Waikiki that’s the best for snorkeling. It’s also a good area to set up for a picnic too!

The snorkeling is free, but this activity does require you to have your own snorkeling gear.

Make sure you have these snorkeling things when you’re going snorkeling in Waikiki.

And, if snorkeling in Waikiki is one of the top activities you’re looking forward to, you’ll want to keep these dates in mind.

This is the WORST time to go snorkeling in Waikiki… because surely you don’t want to risk being stung by jellyfish! It’s basically a monthly affair for jellyfish to be a bother on Waikiki Beach. But, the good news is that it’s generally predictable.

And here are 2 more of the best spots for snorkeling on Oahu.

Hawaii is all about seeing stunning views, and you will get plenty of that just by being in Waikiki!

And if you want even MORE stunning views, a hike can be a perfect way to achieve that!

There aren’t any hikes in Waikiki itself, but just a short distance away is the Diamond Head Hike.

This is one of the best crater hikes on Oahu (the strenuous Koko Head Hike is another, but this is a bit further away although not much).

The Diamond Head crater is just a short distance from Waikiki. It’s a 10 minute bus ride using Oahu’s convenient bus system.

It’s also reasonable to walk there from Waikiki if you’re feeling like you want to get in a little more activity!

Here are some tips for the Diamond Head Hike.

The trail is also an uphill climb.

Since it’s near Waikiki and an uphill trail, this means that once you reach the summit of the Diamond Head Hike you will be rewarded with stunning views of Waikiki Beach and downtown Honolulu!
